I bleed in sequence: furthest corner from the master cylinder first, working to the nearest — on a left-hand-drive car that's right rear, left rear, right front, left front. That pushes the old fluid and air the shortest way out.
I keep the reservoir topped up with fresh DOT4 the whole time — if it runs dry you pull air into the master cylinder and start over
